AYEKA?1 min read
The Voice booms once more
From without
Urgent, shrill,
Thin
Within
Too terrifying to hear
Too beautiful to shut away
“AYEKA?”
“Where are you?”
Where am I?
I don’t know.
Lost!
Lost among the broken shards of
my shattered dreams
Spinning still, forever
In the endless space of my memory
I wander
among them,
Embracing them all
Caressing them gently
Even as the blood drips from my cuts
And the pain is too much to bear
They are all I have left.
Question marks slither
across the inky sky of my mind
What might have been
What the Tree of Life
might have tasted like
“AYEKA?”
The Voice is back
Hard to please
Too wise to be fooled
By my deadly despair.
Where am I?
Hiding!
Hiding from myself
Hiding from new beginnings
Too tired to fix
Too broken to mend my ways
I would rather float
among this shattered window
Of the success that might have been
Every shard of which
bespeaks my colossal failure
and tells the tale of my distance from You.
I am scared
frail
and weak.
I am hiding.
“AYEKA?!”
The earth trembles, shudders, and shakes
Threatening to break
into a million pieces
But it never does.
I slowly open my eyes
And find that
the garden is filled with light
God embracing His shattered dream.
It has never looked more complete.
My dear Father,
I am here.
Ready to become whole
in Your loving Arms.
