green lush forest on mountain ridge

I was sitting at the dining room table this morning with my wife and our Shmuel. I was in tallis and tefillin, davening, and Shmuel was coloring.

It was silent, serene, a rare and welcome break from the frequent chaos of quarantine.

Suddenly, Shmuel looks and says, “Abba?”

I look up and smile, nodding my head.

He puffs up his little chest, his beaming face lighting up the room. “I’m coloring with MY MOMMY!” he says.

Such pride, such adoration, such contentment.

Inspired, I looked out the window to the deep blue Jerusalem sky above. “And I’m davening with MY ABBA.” I thought. “MY ABBA!”

Master of the world, please let me be half as proud that You are mine as my Shmuel is of his Mommy. Please allow me to share my adoration for You with everyone I meet, with utmost excitement and sincerity. Thank You for another lesson from my greatest Rebbe!
